This blog post is about my experience using Enterprise CarShare. This program is a great Car Share in Toronto.
Nothing more lovely than an Enterprise CarShare van full of flowers…
Last week was a super busy week in the flower studio. I had a few large flower events, and ended the week with my sister’s wedding. Needless to say – it was a lot of fun, but I have felt the need to nap constantly since! Whenever I have a floral event, like a wedding, I travel to my various suppliers a few days in advance to pick up my flower orders. If you follow along with my Instagram Stories, two Tuesdays back I took you along with me as I did my flower pick ups to give a taste of what a day in the life of an event florist looks like!
Since I had so many flowers to grab, I needed a bigger vehicle than what I usually drive. Thanks to Enterprise CarShare I was able to rent this red cargo van (I chose the colour – isn’t it cute!?) and it was JUST what I needed to get all my flowers and supplies in one go. I’m going to share with you a little about the Enterprise CarShare Program as well as a few snaps of all the beauty I picked up – filling the van and studio!
So, the Enterprise CarShare program is a member-based rental system where you can rent vehicles by the hour, the day, or overnight. Through their mobile app, you can reserve your vehicle at one of their many locations around town. There are over 175 pick-up and drop-off locations in the Toronto area – we were able to choose a pick-up location just a couple of blocks away from our condo. If you know me well, then you would know how much the convenience of that would excite me! 😉
There are a whole range of vehicles that can be rented. For my uses this time the cargo van worked perfectly. But, I can see the value of the program for any city dweller without a car for things as simple as doing a big grocery store run before a party, or making a trip to Ikea (which isn’t too far but is impossible to access by public transit!) to grab some new household things.
Basically, being a member allows you to reserve a car close by as is needed. The real bonus? Each car has a pre-paid gas card in it and the gas is included in your membership fee!
‘Big Red’ (seemed like an appropriate name, no?) worked her way seamlessly into our day. In the morning we walked to the parking garage where the van was parked about 2 blocks away. With membership card on hand, I simply tapped it on a receiver on the windshield and the car unlocked. So far so good! All my trip information was programmed into the car and the monitor tracked my kilometres and time (there are km and time limits based on how long you book the car – make sure you know them and try your best to stick to them!).
Our first jaunt of the journey was to Mississauga to do my main flower pick-ups from 3 different suppliers. I feel like a kid in a candy shop whenever I go up there – SO many flowers to choose from! That’s where I picked up most of the beautiful bounty pictured here.
Next, we headed to a local farm in Hamilton to pick up a big batch of local blooms for one of the events which had a farm fresh feel. From there we were not too far from the studio and when we got back I unpacked the van; cleaned all the flowers and put them in the cooler before we booted back to the city. At the end of the day we simply returned the van to the location where we picked it up; tapped the windshield with our card to lock the car and that was that! Easy peasy!
If you are looking for a car share in Toronto and you’re interested in giving the Enterprise CarShare program a try, I have a special promo code that you can use here. This gives you a reduced rate on your car share joining fee; waives your first year membership fee; AND gives you a $10 credit toward your first Enterprise Carshare rental.
Some farm fresh goodness that I’m very happy about – can ya tell?! Still swooning over these garden roses! And these dahlias!
Thank you to Enterprise CarShare for sponsoring this post. All thoughts, words, and photos are my own.
