Friends, here it is – the fourth and final cocktail in our Holiday Cocktail Series! I’m a little sad that this is the final week because I’ve had sooo much fun coming up with these different winter cocktails this month! This week we are finishing things off with a cocktail that is fresh and spicy. It’s definitely earning it’s place in the books as one of my favourite Christmas vodka cocktails I have tried! I’ve been wanting to use pear juice in a drink for a while now and this drink happened to be the perfect combination of flavours to give it a try. There are warm notes of winter pear, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Such a lovely and unexpected combo!
I am thrilled to be featuring another local company this week with Georgian Bay Spirit Co. You probably noticed their Gin Smash and Vodka Smash drinks in the LCBO this summer (instant summer classics!), but did you know that they also make gin and vodka?
As common as vodka is as a liquor, it’s actually not my go-to when making cocktails (I’m a gin girl through and through!). After hearing great things about the Georgian Bay Spirit Co. vodka though I knew I had to give it a try…trying out a few Christmas vodka cocktails was a welcomed challenge! AND, do you want to know the coolest thing about this vodka? Georgian Bay Spirit Co. Vodka was named the Best Vodka at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. How cool is it that a vodka made using all local Ontario ingredients was voted the best vodka in the world? Yep, I thought so too…pretty cool!
Making this cocktail is super straight forward and doesn’t take too long. First, combine the vodka, elderflower liqueur and pear juice in a shaker and shake it with ice. Pour the drink into a glass with ice and top it off with the spicy ginger beer. Give a dash of all spice on top and garnish the glass with a cinnamon stick and slice of candied ginger. Serve up for an unexpected festive combination of flavours that you and your friends are sure to enjoy. Cheers!
