Home & Garden
You have probably noticed by now that I love making seasonal recipes. There is something sweet and special about a treat that can only be enjoyed at certain times of year. If you have logged onto social media in the last week then you probably know that #PSL/pumpkin spice latte season is upon us. Confession: I’ve never had one. I’ll blame that on the fact that I’m not a coffee drinker. I am, however, an avid milkshake drinker! So, why not try a pumpkin spice milkshake, right? This easy milkshake recipe is the perfect drink to get those fuzzy fall feelings started and, let’s be honest, it’s still hot outside and deep down we really just want a cold drink! Oh yeah, and this pumpkin spice milkshake is DELICIOUS!
Honestly, this is so easy that I think making your own milkshakes is the only way to go! Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend only until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Be careful not to over blend or your milkshake will be become too liquidy (still delicious though, so not the end of the world!). See, could this easy milkshake recipe be any more easy?! Probably not 😉
If you are wondering how to make whipped cream, I can help you out! Top your milkshake with homemade whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin spice. Again, this homemade whipped cream recipe is so simple to make. I decided to make my whipped cream from scratch, and, better yet…I whipped it by hand! This was mostly because I wanted to use my cute new whisk from Anthropologie 😉
To make your own homemade whipped cream, combine the below ingredients in a mixing bowl. If you are using a hand mixer, I find it takes about 4-5 minutes on a medium to high speed. Stop your mixer every so often to test the texture and consistency. The goal is to create peaks with your mixture. That means, when you remove your whisk from the bowl the cream should create a little peak that remains standing on its own. Once you have achieved the peaks you are finished your homemade whipped cream – be careful not to over whip!
If you are making this whipped cream recipe by hand…well, good for you! I admit that my hand was VERY tired by the end but it was certainly satisfying! To achieve peaks when whisking my hand took about 15 minutes of rigorous whipping. Yes, I was exhausted. Yes, I shared the workload with Dan. But, if you don’t have a hand mixer this is definitely an option and any sweets that you have that day are definitely well earned! 😉
This Pumpkin Spice Milkshake is a perfect treat to welcome fall! Enjoy!
