One of my favourite things about living where I do is being close to so many lakes. Do I go swimming in them? Nah, not really. But making a trip to the water is one of my favourite summer activities. Most days, I’ll go out of my way to walk along the lake on my way home from work – the stretch of the waterfront in Toronto by the Music Garden is one of my favourite walks in the city.
Last weekend Dan and I visited the pier near my parents’ house. I wore crisp linen, red pants, and a hat with a navy bow…a slight pledge to nautical fashion – obviously. Every summer, for as long as I can remember, I have had a pair of red pants as part of my seasonal wardrobe. They’re an awesome item to infuse a bit of colour into your look and not be too cutesy by going for all out floral or pink or yellow (although I love all those colours too, by the way). As loud as red may seem as a colour, it is really easy to pull off, and especially on your lower half as shorts, pants, or a skirt. My fool proof tip? Pair it with a white top of any style for a guaranteed put together look and a straw hat is the icing on the cake!
