Last weekend Dan and I traveled down to Burlington, Vermont to attend Dan’s best friend Ben and his lovely wife Sophie’s wedding. We had the most wonderful time celebrating for 3 days and I even had the honour of doing the flowers for their special day. Below are just a few photos of the flowers, the flower making process, and of course, my favourite dresses. I wish I had more photos of the actual wedding, the Bride and Groom, and all those wonderful things…but I left my phone and camera in the room for most of the trip. So for now, these will have to do 🙂
Burlington is about an 8 hour drive from Toronto so we set out on our little road trip around 5:30 in the morning to make sure we made it to Vermont in time to go to the flower farm and check out the flowers. I ordered everything from StrayCat Flower Farm in Burlington. Burlington is a smaller city than I expected but they had a great local flower scene. I did all the flower planning via e-mail in the months leading up to the wedding and when I arrived everything was just as I had hoped and imagined! StrayCat do full event flowers and they also offer DIY flower buckets where you can order the flowers from them and make the arrangements yourself. That’s the option I went for! I placed my order just as I normally would for a wedding and also asked for a few of their mixed seasonal buckets – this is where they select the flowers for you in your colour scheme. It’s kind of the best of what they have growing at that time and it was a great way for me to try a few new flowers without committing to a full bunch of each! The flowers turned out great and, as always, I had such a fun time making everything and was so happy to be able to contribute to our friends’ wedding day.
The wedding itself was on Grand Isle in Vermont and we stayed in the beautiful Grand Isle Lake House. It rained most of the weekend but we couldn’t have cared less (minus the hair frizz…I actually did care about that ;)) – the amazing porch around the house protected us from the rain and we still felt like we spent the entire weekend outdoors. Luckily things cleared up before the ceremony and Ben and Sophie were able to get married outdoors and I even had time to forage some big apple branches to decorate the arbour for their ceremony (no photo, darn!). I hope you enjoy seeing some ‘in-action’ flower photos!

I fell in love with this fun dress by Red Valentino. You can shop the dress HERE. I am excited to wear this dress in the winter with black tights and a white collared shirt underneath it…woohoo for versatility!
